Register for teen driver education classes and behind-the-wheel training at Safe Driver Drivers Education, a driving school in Cedar Rapids, IA.

  • Teen Driver Education

    Learn to drive with Safe Drivers Driver Education. You'll get hands-on training from fully licensed, experienced instructors. Our teen driver education package offers everything you need to receive your driver's license, including:

    • Hybrid driver education class with 2-3 in-person sessions and the rest of the course completed independently online via Canvas
    • Six driving lessons -- Each lesson is two hours: one hour observation and one hour behind-the-wheel.
    • Certificate of Completion submitted to Iowa DOT after all requirements are met, making the student eligible to receive their Minor School Permit or Graduated Driver's License

    $235 deposit or full payment must be made within 4 days of registration.  

    Driving lessons occur outside class on non-class days, evenings, and weekends. We will post the availability calendar about two weeks before the first day of class. Please do not wait to schedule driving lessons.

  • Parent Assist Driver Education

    Let us help you teach your teen how to drive. This package includes two behind-the-wheel lessons and hybrid classroom instruction — perfect for parents who want to teach their kids to drive themselves but could use a little help.

    • Hybrid driver education class with 2-3 in-person sessions and the rest of the course completed independently online via Canvas
    • Two behind-the-wheel lessons taught by Mr. Rolwes (typically the first and last lesson)
    • Parents assist with the other four lessons. Instructions will be emailed regarding the parental assistance portion before the course begins. Parents may be required to record portions of each lesson for instructor review. 
    • Certificate of Completion submitted to Iowa DOT upon completion of all requirements

The classroom portion of the course will be conducted in a hybrid/blended format. There will be two in-person (face-to-face) meetings on Monday, February 22nd, and Monday, April 5th from 6:00-7:00 pm. The online portion of the course will be asynchronous where students will complete lessons on Google Classroom or Canvas. All class assignments and activities will need to be finished by April 30th.
